Why will this help me since I'm already permitted?

The EMS framework is designed to be flexible so it addresses issues that are not specifically covered by your permit process, as well as informing you of potential problem areas you may wish to correct before your annual inspection. This can allow for many benefits including those listed in the "Overview and Benefits" section.

Who will see the results of my EMS?

This EMS is being designed as a self-assessment, so you are the only person who will see the results. However, since this is a pilot project to determine the usefulness of EMS's for poultry operations, you will be asked to complete two anonymous surveys. You are not obligated to complete any portion of the surveys with which you feel uncomfortable.

How much time does this process require?

Chances are you are already doing many of the items an EMS requires, the EMS framework just provides for integration and collection of this data. Therefore, the time requirement may be minimal. In addition, the assessment tool has been designed so you can decide which aspects of your operation to focus on and does not require you to complete every module at once (or ever!). Since you are in charge of developing your EMS, you get to decide on the pace and priority of changes made to your operation.
